ASTM f2063 stipulates that the size of inclusions or voids must be less than 39 for alloys with a fully annealed phase transition temperature as less than or equal to 30 ℃ μ m. And the area fraction is less than 2.8%. Alloys with phase transformation temperature as greater than 30 ℃ in fully annealed state shall have the maximum inclusion size and area fraction agreed by the buyer and the supplier.

The nickel titanium based shape memory alloy of the company adopts VIM in high vacuum(P≤1.0×10-3pa).The electromagnetic stirring of the molten pool makes the NiTi based alloy have good composition uniformity.The microstructure of the ingot section is shown in the figure:

 


The as cast structure of NiTi base alloy is a typical solidification structure.From the surface of the ingot to the center of the ingot,there are surface fine crystal region,columnar crystal region and central equiaxed crystal region.

The typical b2-b19 'martensitic transformation can be observed by DSC after the ingot is treated by water cooling at 900 ℃ for 1H.
